FFC Spring 2022 Recreation Soccer Banner

FFC Recreation Soccer is a grassroots recreation soccer program. The intention of this program is to provide a safe, educational environment for local youth to enjoy recreation soccer - no pressure, no statistics, no league tables, no wins-ties-losses - just the opportunity to learn more about the beautiful game, improve their soccer skills, as well as the opportunity to build character and social skills.

To help achieve this goal, it is important that teams in each division are balanced so that all games are competitive (we don't want those blow-out score lines - they achieve nothing for either team!). Subsequently, it is important to understand that we cannot accommodate requests to retain teams from season to season. However, we do recognize the chemistry that players can develop when playing together, or with a coach.

We also recognize that our volunteer coaches need support and guidance so that they too can enjoy the game as well as develop their skills as a coach and educator. Subsequently, FFC ENCOURAGES our volunteer coaches to take online US Soccer Grassroots Certification classes. In fact, if coaches complete both an online Grassroots Certification class and that season as a volunteer coach, FFC will refund the cost of you taking that online class - Contact [email protected] for more details.

We hope that you consider FFC for your recreation soccer - either as a player or volunteer coach - this coming Spring 2022.

Registration Q&A

  1. I don't see a U11 registration link - how can I register my child for U11? FFC uses an alternate year division program. Thus, we typically combine the years that are not listed with the year above. Thus, U12 consists of 10 and 11 year olds. Thus, our typical age groups are U8, U10, U12, U14 and High School (14+). However, based upon the number of registrations received in each age group, we may adjust the age groups to best balance participation. If this happens, the recreation director will notify you.
  2. I am registering my child, but I only see U14 listed - I was expecting to see U12 for her? The registration links offered in your account for your child are based upon their date of birth. FFC utilizes US Soccer's age banding for this purpose - you can see the breakdown HERE or further below in this FAQ. Note that typically, a player will play in the same age group from FALL to SPRING.
  3. I see separate links for girls and boys, but I thought the FFC recreation program was coed/want my son and daughter to play on the same team. Separate links are shown for boys and girls, but FFC will default to COED in an age group that has insufficient registrations to have separate boys and girls divisions. Should there be separate boys and girls programs, the boys program could also be COED if the need is there.
  4. I want to register my child to play for a specific coach - how do I do that? FFC allocates players to teams in the best interest of all participants. Our program and is based upon providing a balanced, educational soccer program. Requests for specific coaches are not permitted in our recreation soccer program.
  5. I want to volunteer to coach. How do I do that? If you are registering your child to play, a volunteer option will be presented to you during the process. If you are just volunteering to coach (without a child registering), simply email [email protected] with your name, best contact phone number and email address and we will take care of the process with you.
  6. Are the FFC Uniforms required? Yes. FFC utilizes BOTH RED (home) and BLACK (away) jerseys for all recreation teams. In Fall 2020, a new uniform was adopted, which will last through (and including) the Spring 2022 season. You can purchase the jerseys via soccer.com - a link will be provided after registration. Any plain black shorts and black soccer socks can be used, so you can always use those you already have.

NOTE: It is important that you place any order with Soccer.com for jerseys as soon as possible in an attempt to ensure timely delivery for the soccer season. Soccer.com has previously identified that delivery time has been longer than normal, due to COVID-related challenges. This may mean that your child's uniform may arrive after the beginning of the season; it might even be mid-late season. Naturally, this is beyond FFC and Soccer.com's control.
  7. I have received the email link to order uniforms, but it states they may take up to 28 days for delivery, which means they won't be here before the start of the season - what can I do? For practices, any shirts can be worn, but for games we require the FFC jerseys to be worn. However, delivery delays can be a challenge. You can have your child were a solid RED T-shirt if you are the HOME team or a solid BLACK T-Shirt if you are the AWAY team until your jerseys arrive. We would prefer them to be as plain as possible.
  8. This page states that the season is only 6 games - is that correct? FFC Recreation Soccer seasons are scheduled for a minimum of 6 games. FFC may choose to add additional games to the schedule at their discretion.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To ensure that we provide a balanced program to all participants in an age group, we may not be able to accommodate any requests for a specific coach. This is somewhat no different than your child being allocated their teachers at school. Adjustments to rosters may be necessary as the season progresses to accommodate the best balance for our program. We appreciate your understanding that having teams with a more balanced skillset in an age group is important to ensure that all participants have an enjoyable experience playing soccer.

Email [email protected] with any questions not answered above and we will do our best to answer them for you.

AGE GROUP MATRIX

In accordance with the new US Youth Soccer Initiative, birth-year registration calendars will now align with the start of the calendar year and run from January to December, rather than August to July as it had previously. The initiative will align registration with the international standard.

How to determine the birth year used for a competition: Birth year registration should be based on the year in which the season ends. For example, if a season begins in the fall of 2021 and ends in the summer of 2022 (ex: 2021-22 season), the players would be registered based on their age in the year 2022. Competitions that take place in a single year (ex: fall of 2021 only) should use that year to determine birth year. To simplify determining the age group, just subtract the birth year from the year the season ends.

Year Season Ends – Birth Year = Age Group:

  • 2020-2021 (Season) – 2005 (Birth Year) = U16 (Age Group)

  • 2021-2022 (Season) – 2014 (Birth Year) = U8 (Age Group)

  • 2022 (Season) – 2012 (Birth Year) = U10 (Age Group)

Please use the matrix below to line up your child's birth year, which will show the specific age group for a given season.
