Program Descriptions - All Ages & Skill Levels

All programming and content is based off of US Soccer Guidelines, Principles & Initiatives.

Grassroots (Ages 2-4) : MINI Academy

Introduction to Soccer ! Requiring no soccer experience or prior Soccer Training.  These soccer players start as early as  2 & 3 years old. The program duration is typically 4-6 weeks. Players will meet once a week to learn basic skills with and without the soccer ball.  The focus is on FUN, but also encouraging young players to take on basic information and instructions from our FFC Academy Coaches.  The U4 mini program is offered 3 times a year: Fall, Winter & Spring.  


Initial Stage (Ages 5-8) : U6, U7, U8 Academy

Designed for all skill levels of young soccer players who are und the age of 8.  Training is 2 sessions a week and have Small Sided in-house Games  (4v4, 5v5) on Saturday mornings. Training Sessions are completely focused on having fun and incorporating as many touches on the ball as possible.  They players will be encouraged each session to compete in small-sided games consisting of 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3.  Players in the U6, U7, U8 Academy will also participate in Scrimmage Festivals with Academy players from other travel clubs. The U6, U7, U8 Academy is offered 2 times a year: Fall, & Spring with also the ability to train during the off-season in the Winter Academy.   Training & Games are both led by the FFC Academy Coaching Staff.  The focus is not only on dribbling, passing & shooting, but also basic positioning and gameplay.

Basic Stage (Ages 9-12) : U9 - U12 Travel Program (Small-Sided)

U9 - U10 (7v7 Small-Sided)

First level of Travel Soccer. Players begin to make the transition from the Academy & Recreation level programs.  They will who train 2-2 times with regular season play in the NCSL.  Players in the U9-10 Academy will also compete in the Club Champions League (CCL) Scrimmage Fests in both the Fall & Spring.  U9-U10 Travel Teams compete regularly in Tournaments during the Fall & Spring.  There are various skill and ability levels within the U9-U10 Travel Program as there are multiple teams within a single age group.  Designed for recreation level players looking for professional coaching and also players looking for advanced soccer training and competition. 

U11 - U12 (9v9 Small-Sided)

Players will tryout for the U11-12 and if accepted, they will join a pool of players who train 2  times a week.  Players in the U9-10 Travel Program will compete in the NCSL.  In addition to league play,  the U11-U12 Travel Teams will compete regularly in Tournaments in the Fall & Spring.  There are various skill and ability levels within the U11-U12 Travel Program as there are multiple teams within a single age group.  Designed for recreation level players looking for professional coaching and also experienced players looking for advanced soccer training and competition. 


Intermediate Stage (Ages 13-14) : U13-U14 Travel Program

Full Sided 11v11

Youth Travel Team Age Groups are for players looking for advanced competitive training and game environments, who are entering the adult level 11v11 tactical concepts. There is also the ability for Entry Level Travel Players to join who are seeking Professional Coaching and Entry Level Travel Competition on our Red Level Teams. There are multiple teams and levels in a single age group, which ensures various skill levels and abilities are accommodated . The travel season begins early August and will continue through May. Players will typically participate in 8-10 league games in the Fall & Spring.  They will also participate in 4-5 Tournaments. Year round programming is provided for these age groups which includes Winter Training options.  Teams Compete in competitive leagues and tournaments based on their level.  FFC Black Level Teams compete in the Club Champions League ( CCL ) and the Red Level Teams compete in the NCSL.

Advanced Stage (Ages 15-18) : U15, U16-U18 Travel Program

U15 Travel Program is a transition phase between Middle School & High School, as players on the team are usually divided between 8th and 9th grade.  This age group continues to practice & play league play in both the Fall & Spring, however, practices may be reduced in the Spring as to not overload players with the demands of both High School & Travel Soccer.  Teams compete in the CCL & NCSL, with advanced teams able to compete in the EDP.

U16-U18 High School Travel Team Age Groups are for players looking to play soccer in High School and prepare the more advanced players for College.  The U16-U18 travel teams will play all their league games in the Fall and Winter (instead of Fall and Spring).  These teams will also participate in various Tournament and College Showcases throughout the year.  Black Level High School Age Travel Teams compete in the CCL ( Club Champions League ) and the Red Level Teams compete in the  NCSL and ODSL.   FFC features some of Virginia's most competitive High School Age Travel Teams.

Specific Stage (Ages 19-20) : U19-U20 CCL Pro 23 Program

CCL Pro 23 Programming is designed for the serious travel soccer player who is looking to compete at the collegiate level and beyond.  This program also allows for current collegiate level players to return over the summer months to ensure they are remaining in shape for the fall season.  This program compliments our U18 Travel Program as a summer program which begins directly the High School Season ends.  The season is highly competitive with play-offs concluding mid-July. The League consists of the Regions Largest and most Competitive Clubs in Virginia, DC & Maryland.

Recreation Program

Players ages U8 through High School.  Recreation season is held in the Fall and Spring. This program is for players that enjoy learning and playing the game of soccer, but are not ready for the committment expected from the travel program.  Training & Games are all held at FFC Park.  Program provides volunteer coaches who are overseen by our Recreation Director & Full-Time Staff.  FFC ensures Gameplay follows all US Soccer Mandated Rules & Guidelines for every age group.   Age Appropriate programming is essential in fostering a great learning environment which makes the game fun and challenging.
