About FFC Men & Women

There are many reasons to play for Fredericksburg Football Club this summer. We are the most successful program in Virginia. Come join FFC for the 2016 summer and become a better soccer player. Whether you want to improve in order get recruited by a top college program, get more playing time for your university, or as a stepping stone to play professionally… FFC is for you!

The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is the successor to the Men’s Premier Soccer League (MPSL), which was formed in 2002.   The league started in the West Region with teams from the Northern California area.  In 2005 the league expanded to a national format with the introduction of a Midwest region.  The NPSL expanded further in 2007 by adding a Northeastern region.  In 2011, with the addition of a Southeastern region, the National Premier Soccer League has truly become a nationwide league.  In 2014, NPSL became the largest national soccer league in the US Soccer development pyramid with over 80 teams all over the country.  Over 30 expansion teams joined the NPSL for the 2014 season.

The NPSL is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the governing body of soccer in the United States. The NPSL operates and is managed as a team-run league. The structure of the league allows each team to have one vote.  Each team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining league minimum standards.  New teams seeking membership into the NPSL are subject to approval by existing team owners.

The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) is an independent highly competitive national league whose main focus is on the development of highly competitive premier women's soccer teams. We have over 70 teams participating from all over the United States.

The WPSL also makes every effort to bring quality soccer to all levels of the community and to promote the stature of female athletes as role models for our youth. Through the years, our league has had many national open and amateur cup victories.

The WPSL was formed in 1998. It is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA), who is an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the ruling body of soccer in the United States and FIFA the world's ruling body for soccer.

The WPSL season runs from May 1st to August 1st. There is a league championship tournament that is held the last weekend of July. The location of which is determined each year and is alternated to different parts of the country each year. Teams can expect to play 10-16 games during the season.

You have a chance to participate in an exciting, growing league whose focus is strictly upon the development and promotion of WOMEN soccer players. We have a foundation of committed and well-regarded teams located throughout the nation. You can make it happen!!

Coaching Staff

FFC has no shortage of talent when it comes to coaching. Grover Gibson and David Shaw have years of playing and coaching experience that they are passionate to pass on to their players.

Grover Gibson

Grover signed his first professional contract after high school with VfB Stuttgart U-18. He continued his career in Germany playing professional soccer for 13 years, playing around 250 games and scoring over 20 goals, before retiring due to a serious eye injury. His last club was Rot-Weiss Ahlen in the 2. Bundesliga, where he played 30 matches and scored six goals. He was also a member of the US National Team U17 and U20s.

David Shaw

David played for West Ham United Youth Teams, Reserve Teams, and Scottish Youth National Teams. While representing these Teams, David earned 6 International Caps, including two against Germany's U18's. David was also selected for camp for the Under 19 European Championships. David's Coaching Qualifications include a UEFA B License, which he earned at 22 years old in England with the English FA. He has since gone on to complete his English FA Youth Modules 1 & 2, and his USSF National Youth License.

Burg Brigade Supporters Group

The FFC Supporters Group was established 2015 when RVA merged with FASA to rebrand together as Fredericksburg FC. This initiative was started by current American Outlaws and DC United Supporters to bring fan culture and support to the Fredericksburg area. They bring their drums out to the fields and are constantly chanting and singing during the games. It really creates an awesome atmosphere to play in.

The fastest growing area in the state of Virginia located directly off I-95 between Washington D.C and Richmond, consisting of Fredericksburg City, Spotsylvania & Stafford Counties. Over 300,000 + people live in the Fredericksburg and Greater Areas.  Fredericksburg City boasts a downtown area filled with restaurants, bars & local shopping. There is everything you could want and need in Fredericksburg: multiple movie theaters, bowling, hiking, biking, paddle boarding, kayaking and tubing on the Rappahannock, rock climbing, exploring historic battlegrounds, and more!

We use the state of the art facilities at Mary Washington University for all home games. We train at our very own FFC Park, 7 Field Bermuda Grass Complex, which includes a full track. Year-round maintenance of the fields keeps the playing surface in pristine condition.

Host Families

Stay for free over the summer with a host family within the club. Players really enjoy this part because they get to spend quality time with a family within the club and have an impact on the kids. The families get free admission to all the games and it’s nice to have someone there rooting for you. A lot of the players and families become really close and keep in touch even after the season is over.
